Richard Righter's newest painting depicts the actual Copperhead Road in Johnson County, Tennessee. The infamous road gained popular notoriety in the famous 1980's song of the same name, and served as an ideal setting for the second work in the artist's series reflecting on the moonshine whiskey traditions of Appalachia.
Another nod to the moonshiner's pop-culture iconography is the phantom of Robert Mitchum's 1950 Ford from Thunder Road.
