The bootlegger sets out on his moonlit run in the latest edition of Righter's series on the moonshine traditions of Appalachia.
Depicted here is the actual Copperhead Road in Johnson County, Tennessee, near the artist's home. "An old black Dodge" carries the load as immortalized in the popular Steve Earle song that made Copperhead Road so infamous in American culture.
